WCAG 2.2 and BITV 2.0 – the standards underlying a thorough accessibility test

Anyone who wants to know whether their website is truly accessible needs a test based on the correct principles. BITV 2.0 — the Accessible Information Technology Regulation — sets out binding requirements for digital accessibility for public bodies in Germany, drawing on the international W3C testing methods for digital accessibility, which describe specific testing procedures for WCAG compliance. Since June 2025, comparable requirements have applied to private-sector companies under the Accessibility Strengthening Act.
